Tahir Baig guides Pakistan to a respectable total
The Pakistani innings were dominated by the explosive batting of Tahir Baig, who notched up 32 runs off just 18 deliveries, including 4 fours and 2 sixes. Khushdil Shah contributed with 14 runs off 10 balls, including 1 four and 1 six.
Despite losing an early wicket, Pakistan’s batting unit displayed aggressive strokeplay, setting a competitive total of 48/1 in their allotted 5 overs. For Bangladesh, Ripon Mondol bowled 2 overs and conceded 20 runs, while Rakibul Hasan bowled 2 overs, taking a crucial wicket and giving away just 12 runs. Afif Hossain bowled 1 over and conceded 15 runs, playing a part in containing the Pakistani batters.
Yasir Ali Chowdhury shines as Bangladesh beat Pakistan
Chasing a revised target of 65 runs for victory, Bangladesh showed tremendous determination and skill with the bat. Afif Hossain played a pivotal role, scoring 20 runs off 11 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six.
However, the standout performance came from Yasir Ali Chowdhury, who blazed his way to 34 runs off 16 balls, smashing 3 fours and 2 sixes. Pakistan’s bowlers gave it their all in a bid to defend the total. Arshad Iqbal impressed after claiming three wickets while conceding only 14 runs in his 2 overs.
But in the end, Bangladesh emerged triumphant, winning the match by 6 wickets. This victory secured them 3rd place in the Asian Games Men’s T20I 2023 and a bronze medal, a moment of immense pride for the Bangladesh cricket team and their supporters
