IND vs AUS: Rahul Dravid reveals the reason behind Indian batters’ hesitance to bowl

The recent shift in the strategic approach of the Indian justice platoon towards favouring the addition of further all-rounders can be attributed to a conspicuous shift in the dynamics of the platoon. This shift primarily revolves around the top-order batters and their changing part as bowling options.

Unlike some of their outstanding seniors from the one period, the contemporary top-order batters feel less inclined to bowling. This change in approach has been particularly pronounced, egging the platoon’s operation to seek out and nurture all-around bents.

The platoon’s growing reliance on players like Axar Patel and Washington Sundar reflects this evolving strategy. These players aren't traditional each-rounders but have been thrust into similar places due to the top-order batters’s disinclination to drift.

The top-order batters, who are the backbone of the platoon’s fur lineup, have been brushing less constantly as they feel more focused on scoring runs, reducing the platoon’s bowling options.

Again, the tail-enders haven’t displayed jitters with the club when needed. This lack of fur depth has further emphasized the need for all-rounders who can shore up both the fur and bowling aspects of the platoon’s performance.

According to Rahul Dravid, the trainer of the Indian justice platoon, the limitation of having only four fielders beyond the 30-yard circle in limited-overs justice has contributed to the failure of part-time bowlers in the format.

‘ I suppose it could be because of the rule change ’ Rahul Dravid

Dravid believes that the powerplay rule change enforced in 2015 that brigades can only have four fielders outside the ring during the alternate powerplay, which begins in the eleventh over and lasts until the fortieth, is one of the high reasons why the top-order batters couldn't drift currently.

I suppose that has drastically changed the capability of part-time bowler to be suitable to drift in the middle phase, ” Dravid said, as quoted by India Today.

The former Indian batter also recalled the original bowling phase of Indian cricketing legends similar to Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh and mentioned how the new powerplay rule affected the bowling effectiveness of not only the Indian platoon but others as well.

still, Sourav, Sehwag, “ If you flash back and mention all these names( Sachin. In that kind of situation( five fielders outside the ring), you could lose a lot of part-time bowlers and not only us, but a lot of brigades also did that. However, the number of part-time bowlers has gone down in other brigades as well, If you'll notice. ” It’s not only the Indian platoon ” the 50- time-old added.
